Oxidation of Cefalexin by Permanganate: Reaction Kinetics, Mechanism, and Residual Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
The oxidation of cefalexin (CFX), a commonly used cephalosporin antibiotic, was investigated by permanganate (PM) in water. Apparent second-order rate constant of the reaction between CFX and PM was determined to be 12.71 ± (1.62) M−1·

Assessment of persistent antimicrobial and anti-biofilm activity of p-HEMA hydrogel loaded with rifampicin and cefixime

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are nosocomial infections causing more than one million hospital cases annually. The progress of CAUTIs leads to severe health complications. Infections result in blockage of the medical device due to

CFX Simulations of ROCOM Slug Mixing Experiments

open access: yesJournal of Power and Energy Systems, 2008
The present paper documents the CFD code validation activity carried out at the University of Pisa. In particular, the ANSYS CFX-10.0 code was used to simulate one of the experiments conducted at the ROCOM mixing test facility (FZD, Germany), that reproduced the injection of a de-borated slug in one cold leg of a pressurized water reactor (simulated by

Enhanced Intestinal Permeability of Cefixime by Self-Emulsifying Drug Delivery System: In-Vitro and Ex-Vivo Characterization

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Background: Cefixime (CFX) belongs to a group of third-generation cephalosporin antibiotics with low water solubility and low intestinal permeability, which ultimately leads to significantly low bioavailability.

Numerical Study of a Heat Transfer in a Photovoltaic (PV) Panel Water Cooling Systems

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables
The proposed work uses the CFD commercial flow solver Ansys CFX. This solver is a finite volume-based method. Ansys CFX is used to compute heat transfer at the fluid-solid interface using its CHT module to improve the efficiency of the cooling PV system.
