A lightweight ISE for ChaCha on RISC-V
2021 IEEE 32nd International Conference on Application-specific Systems, Architectures and Processors (ASAP), 2021ChaCha is a high-throughput stream cipher designed with the aim of ensuring high-security margins while achieving high performance on software platforms. RISC-V, an emerging, free, and open Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) is being developed with many instruction set extensions (ISE).

Cryptanalysis of Salsa and ChaCha: Revisited
2018Stream cipher is one of the basic cryptographic primitives that provide the confidentiality of communication through insecure channel. EU ECRYPT network has organized a project for identifying new stream suitable for widespread adoption where the ciphers can provide a more security levels.

Revisited Diffusion Analysis of Salsa and ChaCha
2018 International Symposium on Information Theory and Its Applications (ISITA), 2018Both ChaCha and AES are standardized as symmetric ciphers in TLS 1.3; AES is a block cipher, whereas ChaCha is a stream cipher. The security of AES has been studied by many researchers. ChaCha, however, needs more security analysis because it has been proposed more recently, compared with AES.

Study and analysis of eSTREAM cipher Salsa and ChaCha
2016 IEEE International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICETECH), 2016The eSTREAM project [5] was established to choose new stream ciphers with comparison to existing ciphers (e.g. AES) as to provide a better alternative. The stream cipher Salsa20 [3] as a candidate of the eSTREAM project was accepted for the final phase and again successfully reviewed with 12 round.
