Envisioning Liberal Internationalism: Mapping and the League of Nations' Geographical Department
The Geographical Journal, Volume 192, Issue 3, September 2026.ABSTRACT This paper argues that mapping was a foundational technology through which the idea of liberal internationalism was actively produced. Focusing on the League of Nations' Geographical Department, we show how a new sphere of international challenges was constituted where none had previously existed or been widely agreed upon.
