Abstract. A system of identifying and homologizing the tibiotarsal setae of Collembola by means of letters and numerals is described. These setae are arranged in a series of whorls, each whorl consisting of up to seven setae. The whorls are identified by letters (A, B, etc.), whorl A being the most distal.
