Adaptive sliding mode control for chain driving system with disturbance observer

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part I: Journal of Systems and Control Engineering, 2020
The design and implementation of adaptive sliding mode control with disturbance observer for chain driving system driven by permanent magnet synchronous motor with parameter variation, meshing impact and large friction are addressed in this study. First, an adaptive model compensation control law is designed for perfect position tracking, while a ...

Experimental Active Vibration Control of Automotive Chain Drive Systems

Active Control of Vibration and Noise, 1996
Abstract Impact between chain links and sprockets during their engagements is generally considered to be the major source of noise in power transmission chains. To reduce the noise, one approach is to reduce the tension in the chain.

A Practical Approach for Impact Noise Prediction of Chain Drive Systems

Dynamics, Acoustics and Simulations, 1998
Abstract This paper presents an analytical procedure for the noise level prediction of chain drive systems. The roller chain drive system for a motorcycle product is first modeled using finite element techniques and its operation under a typical operating condition is numerically simulated using a commercial software to obtain the ...

Approach to the Main Transmission Phenomena for Timing Chain Drive Systems

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2014
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">More and more, the automotive vehicle consumers tend to opt for internal combustion engines which use chain in their timing system, since the chain drive system presents high durability, avoiding the usual maintenance common to the belt timing system.

Micro-hybrid System for Inte gration in Timing Chain Drives

MTZ worldwide, 2009
The micro-hybrid system developed by Iwis Motorsysteme GmbH & Co. KG provides the installing of a compact electric machine on the combustion engine with power transfer via timing chain drive. While keeping the standard 12 V vehicle power supply, a specially developed high-power electric machine replaces the functions of serial starter and alternator ...

Model experiments on automotive chain drive systems

2001
Polymer faced chain guides and tensioners are used in automotive drive chain assemblies to reduce chain vibration and noise. Durability testing on a pre-production diesel engine has shown that these components are susceptible to wear. Analysis of worn polymer guides indicate that the failure of the guide is governed by impact and fatigue failure.

A Friction Comparison between Chain and Belt-Drive Systems

SAE International Journal of Engines, 2012
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Concerns over greenhouse gas emissions are driving governments and the automotive industry to seek out ways of reducing vehicle CO₂ emissions. Engine friction reduction is one means of reducing CO₂ emissions, through fuel consumption improvements.

Development of a Low Friction Chain Drive System for Gasoline Engines

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2012
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">With fuel costs continuing to rise, and with regulations seeking to lower overall fuel emissions, improved fuel economy has become indispensible for today's gasoline engine designer.

Computer Aided System for Database Chain Drive Design and Drafting

British Journal of Mathematics & Computer Science, 2015
The study reviewed the procedure involved in the design of chain drive in mechanical system. Machine design and its fabrication hardly do without chain drive system. It involved some calculations using some mathematical model. Frequently, computation makes the designing procedure time consuming, drudgery and error does occur.

On the Stability of Chain Drive Systems Under Periodic Sprocket Oscillations

Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 1991
Experimental observations have shown that periodic torsional oscillations of engine camshafts induced by powertrain loads can cause significant tension variation in the timing chain and magnify the chain transverse vibrations and noise level. This result indicates that the sprocket dynamic characteristics and the chain vibration behavior are closely ...
