Indecomposable injective modules of finite Malcev rank over local commutative rings

open access: yes, 2013
It is proven that each indecomposable injective module over a valuation domain $R$ is polyserial if and only if each maximal immediate extension $\widehat{R}$ of $R$ is of finite rank over the completion $\widetilde{R}$ of $R$ in the $R$-topology.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Tourism supply chain & strategic partnerships for managing the complexity in tourism industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The paper aims to investigate the possible relationship between Tourism Supply Chain and Strategic Partnership, read as a way to reduce and better manage the complexity in Tourism Industry. This last has been analysed under multi-disciplinary approaches

Topological effects in ring polymers (II): Influence of persistence length

open access: yes, 1999
The interplay of topological constraints and persistence length of ring polymers in their own melt is investigated by means of dynamical Monte Carlo simulations of a three dimensional lattice model.

Finite Commutative Chain Rings

open access: yesFinite Fields and Their Applications, 2001
A commutative ring with unit is called a chain ring if all its ideals form a chain under inclusion. All finite chain rings can be obtained in the following way: Let \(p\) be a prime, \(n,r>0\), \(f\in \mathbb{Z}_{p^n}[X]\) a monic polynomial, \(\deg(f)=r\) whose image in \(\mathbb{Z}_p[X]\) is irreducible and let \(\text{GR} (p^n,r): =\mathbb{Z}_{p^n ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-6-(phenylsulfonyl)perhydro-1,3-thiazolo[3′,4′:1,2]pyrrolo[4,5-c]pyrrole

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2008
In the title compound, C21H24N2O3S2, the three five-membered rings adopt envelope conformations. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 68.4 (1)°.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study of Nonconcatenated Ring Polymers in a Melt: I. Statics

open access: yes, 2011
Molecular dynamics simulations were conducted to investigate the structural properties of melts of nonconcatenated ring polymers and compared to melts of linear polymers.

Oscillating Coulomb chain in a storage ring [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2003
The dynamic behavior of a bunched one-dimensional crystalline beam is studied theoretically. It is shown that, owing to the existence of momentum dispersion, a Coulomb chain traveling in a storage ring performs a complex periodic oscillation whenever it is exposed to a longitudinal radio-frequency force.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
