Ultrafast Control of Coherent Acoustic Lattice Dynamics in the Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Alloy WSSe

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Coherent acoustic phonons are generated and optically controlled in bulk WSSe alloy samples using ultrafast spectroscopy. The alloy exhibits a strong coherent acoustic response, which is not an intermediate state between WS? and WSe?. Instead, a much more complex mechanism is proposed.

Selective recognition and extraction of iodide from pure water by a tripodal selenoimidazol(ium)-based chalcogen bonding receptor

open access: yesiScience
Summary: A selenium-based tripodal chalcogen bond (ChB) donor TPI-3Se is demonstrated for the recognition and extraction of I− from 100% water medium. NMR and ITC studies with the halides reveal that the ChB donor selectively binds with the large, weakly

On the glass transition temperature in covalent glasses

open access: yes, 1998
We give a simple demonstration of the formula relating the glass transition temperature, $T_g$, to the molar concentration $x$ of a modifier in two types of glasses: binary glasses, whose composition can be denoted by $X_nY_m+xM_pY_q$, with ^$X$ an ...

Bis(trifluoromethyl)disulfide and the EtP4 Phosphazene Base—Formation of a Bench‐Stable [EtP4SCF3]+[SCF3]− Salt

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a bench‐stable trifluoromethylthiolate‐substituted phosphazenium salt is reported. Reaction of bis(trifluoromethyl)disulfide with the EtP4 phosphazene base furnishes this salt in quantitative yield. The compound features a unique trifluoromethylthiolate‐iminium motif and allows for functionalization of both trifluoromethylthiolate ...

Noble Gas Bonding Interactions Involving Xenon Oxides and Fluorides

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Noble gas (or aerogen) bond (NgB) can be outlined as the attractive interaction between an electron-rich atom or group of atoms and any element of Group-18 acting as an electron acceptor.

Theoretical Investigations on Heteronuclear Chalcogen−Chalcogen Interactions:  On the Nature of Weak Bonds between Chalcogen Centers

open access: yesInorganic Chemistry, 2007
To understand the intermolecular interactions between chalcogen centers (O, S, Se, Te), quantum chemical calculations on model systems were carried out. These model systems were pairs of monomers of the composition (CH3)2X1 (X1 = O, S, Se, Te) as the donors and CH3X2Z (with X2 = O, S, Se, Te and Z = Me, CN) as the acceptors.

Cationic Sulfonium‐Based Tripodal Ligand and Its Rh(I) Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We report a cationic EP3‐type tripodal ligand based on an aromatic sulfonium cation (E = S+) along with a series of its Rh(I) complexes. Structural, spectroscopic, electrochemical, and computational analyses of these complexes compared to isostructural analogs (E = Si− or P) reveal pronounced electron density depletion at Rh in the sulfonium congener ...

Electronic and Magnetic Properties of 1T-TiSe2 Nanoribbons

open access: yes, 2015
Motivated by the recent synthesis of single layer TiSe2 , we used state-of-the-art density functional theory calculations, to investigate the structural and electronic properties of zigzag and armchair- edged nanoribbons of this material.

Achievement of Transition Metal Chalcogenides/Oxides in Hydrogen Production by Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Transition metal chalcogenides (TMCs)/oxides have shown great application potential in seawater splitting for hydrogen generation due to their adjustable electronic properties, abundant active sites, and excellent catalytic performance. ABSTRACT Under the impetus of global “dual carbon” goals, green hydrogen has become a key component of the future ...
