Designing Chamfers

The International Journal of Robotics Research, 1983
This paper discusses design criteria and procedures for straight and curved chambers to aid the assembly of parts. The chamfer is assumed rigid and the mating part compliant. Various criteria concerning the insertion force are used to derive chamfer shapes and slopes, both analytically and synthetically. The theory is verified by experiments.

On the Chamfer Polygons on the Triangular Grid

2017
Weighted (or with other name, chamfer) distances on the triangular grid was introduced recently based on the three well-known neighborhoods. By having various values of the three used weights, the approximation of the Euclidean disks are shown, based on the isoperimetric ratio. Our results are also compared to similar results on the square grid.

Modified Chamfer Matching Algorithm

2003
Image matching is an important task. There are many available methods for occluded image matching. In this paper we propose new simple image-matching algorithm, modified chamfer matching algorithm (MCMA). Distance transform and conventional chamfer matching algorithm are explained.

Machining with chamfered tools

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2005
Abstract The application of chamfered tools in metal cutting is yet very much limited. Despite their better edge strength, relatively little research have been done so far to understand the effect of tool geometry on cutting variables and the mechanics of chip formation.
