Grassed drainage channels?hydraulic resistance characteristics

Maritime Engineering, 2002
Current methods of estimating the hydraulic resistance of grass were developed for the relatively high water depths found in rivers and large channels, and for cultivars not common in the UK. This paper describes work carried out to determine the hydraulic resistance of grass-lined drainage channels, with particular emphasis on shallow channels used ...

Channel Capabilities, Product Characteristics, and the Impacts of Mobile Channel Introduction

Journal of Management Information Systems, 2013
Drawing on the notion of channel capability, we develop a theoretical ramework for understanding the interactions between mobile and traditional online channels for products with different characteristics. Specifically, we identify two channel capabilities—access and search capabilities—that differentiate mobile and online channels, and two product ...

Wormhole detection using channel characteristics

2012 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2012
The potential applications and pervasive nature of mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) has made them an attractive target for attackers. The wireless medium of communication coupled with constrained resources enable attacks which can be executed by a weak adversary.

Channeling studies through characteristic radiations

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1968
The yield of K-shell fluorescence radiation emitted from aluminium crystals is measured during bombardment with 1H+, 3He+, 4He+, and 20Ne+ ions in the energy range 100–200 keV under channeling conditions. The yield as a function of the angle between the beam and a crystallographic direction shows a minimum; the half-width is independent of the ion ...

UWB antennas and channel characteristics

2010 IEEE International Conference on Wireless Information Technology and Systems, 2010
Spectrum is presently one of the most valuable goods world-wide, as the demand is permanently increasing and it can be traded only locally. Since the United States FCC has opened the spectrum from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz - i.e., a bandwidth of 7.5 GHz - for unlicensed use with up to −41.25 dBm/MHz EIRP, numerous applications in communications and sensor ...

Research of communication channel characteristics

2020
The questions of studying the amplitude and phase characteristics of communication channels of radio engineering systems are considered. As part of the research, a homodyne method for converting microwave signals is proposed, which makes it possible to measure amplitude and phase fluctuations with high accuracy and with the utmost simplicity of ...

Characteristics of ultraviolet scattering and turbulent channels

Optics Letters, 2013
The nonline of sight (NLOS) ultraviolet (UV) scattering communication channel and atmospheric optical turbulent channel have been extensively but independently studied in the rich literature. However, the new characteristics of NLOS UV scattering and turbulent channels have not been comprehensively investigated.

Channel Flow Computations Using Characteristics

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1979
It is shown that the direct formulation of the rectangular grid broken characteristic method can be used without adherence to the Courant condition. When small distance steps are used, it is possible to use time steps with large Courant numbers with relatively little loss of accuracy. Larger distance steps require the restriction of the Courant numbers

Single channel characteristics of some synthetic gramicidins

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1977
The synthesis of two new variants of gramicidin is described. It is shown that the changes in the aromatic side groups do not influence the single channel conductivity. Experiments in which solutions having different molarities on the two sides of the bilayer lipid membrane are described and their results compared with a rate theory analysis.

Vehicular Channel Characteristics and Modeling

2018
Nowadays, intelligent transportation systems and vehicular networks are developing rapidly with ever-increasing researches on the vehicular communication channels. Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications is a key technology for future vehicular networks and applications, which enables vehicles to obtain a broad range of traffic information such as ...
