EM-Based Joint Channel Estimation and IQ Imbalances for OFDM Systems

IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, 2012
The imbalances between the In-phase (I) and Quadrature-phase (Q) branches represent a significant source of impairment in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Recently, it has been shown that the unwanted IQ imbalances can be actually exploited to achieve a diversity gain.

Effect of noise imbalance on dual-MRC over Rayleigh fading channels

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2006
The performance analysis of dual (two-branch) maximal ratio combining (MRC) under imperfect weight, named imperfect MRC, due to the noise imbalance is derived over independent but non-identical Rayleigh fading channels. Considering the system (or channel) conditions that the noise level of each branch is different, we present the accurate performance ...

The origins of acupuncture channel imbalance in pain of the equine hindlimb

Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, 1998
Summary Objective: A study was conducted to define the relationship between oriental channel imbalance and pain of the equine hindlimb. Methods: One hundred eighty-five lame and muscle sore horses from a general equine practice in Virginia were examined by a single observer using traditional manual palpation of the acupuncture channels.

Idle-Channel Noise Characteristic of a Delta Modulator with Step Imbalance and Quantizer Hysteresis

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1975
In 1969 Iwersen [4] analyzed the quantizing noise (assuming no slope overload) associated with a delta modulator ( \DeltaM ) with step-size imbalance. In this concise paper we consider the effects of both step-size imbalance and quantizer threshold hysteresis on \DeltaM quantizing noise.

Frame synchronization and joint estimation of IQ imbalance and channel response for OFDM systems

2008 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2008
In this paper, we first introduce a new method for joint estimation of IQ imbalance and channel response in OFDM systems under the assumption of perfect frame synchronization. The proposed method needs only one OFDM block for training and the solution is given in closed form.

External Imbalances and the Valuation Channel

2017
South Africa has been a net debtor of international capital since the South African Reserve Bank began measuring the international investment position in 1956. This surplus in the financial account has been partially used to finance the persistent current account deficit, which has given rise to a large negative net international financial position ...
