Integrating acousto-optic channelized receivers

The subject of this paper is acousto-optic channelized receivers with large noncoherent processing gain. A receiver model is developed and the output statistics are derived for signal plus noise input. Noise equivalent bandwidths and signal detection sensitivity are calculated. The implications of large average noise power are discussed.

Four-channel integrated-optics coupler and frequency-channel multiplexer

A simple method was developed for the fabrication of strip waveguides in glass with losses below 1 dB/cm. A technique for the determination of the parameters of these waveguides was also developed. An integrated-optics structure was constructed from strip waveguides, which could be used in multimodefiber communication lines.

A six-channel neural signal regeneration integrated circuit (IC) was designed and fabricated in CSMC's 0.5-microm CMOS technology. The circuit consists of a low-noise and high common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) instrument amplifier, an inverted operational amplifier (OPA) and a buffer. The six-channel IC occupies a die area of 1.9mmx1.6mm.
