Impacts of predator odours and conspecific disturbance cues on minnow thermal tolerance
Abstract Warming waters can affect fish community dynamics, potentially exacerbating predator–prey asymmetries in behavioural and physiological metrics of thermal tolerance. Further, differing responses of prey fish species to concurrent predation risk and warming highlight the need to understand these impacts in various contexts, especially with at ...

Hydroxyurea inhibits mitotic activity in cells of the antheridial filaments of Chara vulgaris by blocking phase S and phase G2. Blocking of cells in phase G2 also occurs in the case of the root meristem cells of Helianthus annuus and Vicia faba var ...

Auxin response and PIN‐mediated transport in chlorophyte algae
Like multicellular plants, green algae respond to auxin and move it across their cells. However, their PIN‐like proteins do not act like plant auxin exporters, suggesting that basic auxin transport evolved early and specialized directional transport appeared later in plant evolution.

Is Chara corallina a suitable model plant for studying cell-failure mechanisms in fruit skins?
The freshwater alga, Chara corallina, is often used as a model system in studies of cell-wall mechanics. Chara has a unique and very simple architecture, in which a number of node cells form the interface between two giant internode cells.

Patients with oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy exhibit disease‐specific salivary hyperviscosity that tracks with dysphagia severity and airway invasion. Non‐invasive chairside screening of salivary viscosity may enable clinicians to stratify aspiration risk during routine care to prevent severe pulmonary complications.

Modeling the Action Potential in Characeae Nitellopsis obtusa: Effect of Saline Stress
Action potentials (AP) of characean cells were the first electrical transients identified in plants. APs provide information about plethora of environmental cues. Salinity stress is critical for plants and impacts on excitability.
