Query by String word spotting based on character bi-gram indexing
In this paper we propose a segmentation-free query by string word spotting method. Both the documents and query strings are encoded using a recently proposed word representa- tion that projects images and strings into a common atribute space based on a ...

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Automatic text recognition in digital videos [PDF]
We have developed algorithms for automatic character segmentation in motion pictures which extract automatically and reliably the text in pre-title sequences, credit titles, and closing sequences with title and credits. The algorithms we propose make use

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Recognizing Degraded Handwritten Characters [PDF]
In this paper, Slavonic manuscripts from the 11th century written in Glagolitic script are investigated. State-of-the-art optical character recognition methods produce poor results for degraded handwritten document images.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
