Characteristic methods for multidimensional evolution equations

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1985
AbstractThe stochastic method of characteristics is generalized to analyze multidimensional evolution equations of arbitrary order with constant coefficients. A linear space of abstract characteristics is introduced along with algorithms for associating characteristics with evolutions.

Analysis of graded-index optical fibers by the spectral parameter power series method

open access: yes, 2014
Spectral parameter power series (SPPS) method is a recently introduced technique for solving linear differential equations and related spectral problems.

Characteristic multipliers for some periodic differential equations. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1969
Calculation of the characteristic multipliers is not routine since in general one does not know even one nontrivial solution of (1). However it is possible to obtain convergent series representations for the solutions and thus calculate approximate values for the multipliers [2], [8].

Urn model of separation of sand

open access: yes, 2001
We introduce an urn model which describes spatial separation of sand. In this dynamical model, in a certain range of parameters spontaneous symmetry breaking takes place and equipartitioning of sand into two compartments is broken.

Partial Prolongations and Characteristics of Differential Equations [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1969
This paper studies the behavior of characteristics under partial prolongations. Partial prolongations define a natural equivalence relation between systems of partial differential equations [2], [3]. Examples are given to show that characteristics are not preserved in general.

On quantum matrix algebras satisfying the Cayley-Hamilton-Newton identities

open access: yes, 1998
The Cayley-Hamilton-Newton identities which generalize both the characteristic identity and the Newton relations have been recently obtained for the algebras of the RTT-type.

THE PROCESS OF HEAT TRANSFER IN TWO-LAYERED CYLINDRICAL BODY

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Проблемы энергетики, 2019
Determination of thermal regimes of composite cylindrical bodies by analytical methods leads to the appearance of complex characteristic equations, the solution of which is the determination of eigenvalues.

On Coding by (2,q)-Distance Fibonacci Numbers

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
In 2006, A. Stakhov introduced a new coding/decoding process based on generating matrices of the Fibonacci p-numbers, which he called the Fibonacci coding/decoding method.

Generalized Cayley-Hamilton-Newton identities

open access: yes, 1998
The q-generalizations of the two fundamental statements of matrix algebra -- the Cayley-Hamilton theorem and the Newton relations -- to the cases of quantum matrix algebras of an "RTT-" and of a "Reflection equation" types have been obtained in [2]-[6 ...

Asymptotic properties of solutions to linear nonautonomous delay differential equations through generalized characteristic equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2010
We study some properties concerning the asymptotic behavior of solutions to nonautonomous retarded functional differential equations, depending on the knowledge of certain solutions of the associated generalized characteristic equation.
