By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

A Historical Analysis of The Padovan Sequence
In the present text, we present some possibilities to formalize the mathematical content and a historical context, referring to a numerical sequence of linear and recurrent form, known as Sequence of Padovan or Cordonnier.

Uncertainty Quantification in Modeling of Steel Structures using Timoshenko Beam [PDF]
This paper quantifies the uncertainty emanated from modeling steel structures using a Timoshenko beam. Using continuous beams to model building structures is a conventional approach in structural dynamic analyses.

Urn model of separation of sand
We introduce an urn model which describes spatial separation of sand. In this dynamical model, in a certain range of parameters spontaneous symmetry breaking takes place and equipartitioning of sand into two compartments is broken.

Characteristic Neural Ordinary Differential Equations
We propose Characteristic-Neural Ordinary Differential Equations (C-NODEs), a framework for extending Neural Ordinary Differential Equations (NODEs) beyond ODEs. While NODEs model the evolution of a latent variables as the solution to an ODE, C-NODE models the evolution of the latent variables as the solution of a family of first-order quasi-linear ...

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Analytical formula of Free Electron Laser exponential gain for non-resonant electron beam
The FEL gain formulas for non-resonant case are studied. For the mono-energetic and non-resonant electron beam, the exact expression of the solution of the FEL characteristic cubic equation is obtained with a form much more simple than that in the ...

Characteristic methods for multidimensional evolution equations
AbstractThe stochastic method of characteristics is generalized to analyze multidimensional evolution equations of arbitrary order with constant coefficients. A linear space of abstract characteristics is introduced along with algorithms for associating characteristics with evolutions.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.
