The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Characterizing quantum physics students’ conceptual and procedural knowledge of the characteristic equation

open access: yes, 2020
Research on student understanding of eigentheory in linear algebra has expanded recently, yet few studies address student understanding of the Characteristic Equation.

Uncertainty Quantification in Modeling of Steel Structures using Timoshenko Beam [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2019
This paper quantifies the uncertainty emanated from modeling steel structures using a Timoshenko beam. Using continuous beams to model building structures is a conventional approach in structural dynamic analyses.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Generation of equivalent forms of operational trans-conductance amplifier-RC sinusoidal oscillators: the nullor approach

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2014
It has been shown in two earlier papers published from this study that corresponding to a given single-operational trans-conductance amplifier (single-OTA)-RC and dual-OTA-RC sinusoidal oscillators, there are three other structurally distinct equivalent ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Theory of characteristic modes based on potential-based integral equation

open access: yes, 2016
The characteristic mode analysis is presented based on the potential-based integral equation, where the vector potential equation and the scalar potential are formulated separately and solved in tandem. Accordingly, the theory of the characteristic modes,

The Negative Pell's Equation in Positive Characteristic

open access: yes, 2023
The Pell’s equation and the negative Pell’s equation are two of the most well-studied topics in number theory. While the solvability of the Pell’s equation over the integers is well known for centuries, the solvability problem of the negative Pell’s ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

STABILITY EVALUATION BASED ON THE SUSTAINABILITY TRIANGLE APPLICATION FOR TRANSFER FUNCTIONS ABOVE 2ND ORDER

open access: yesСучасні інформаційні системи, 2018
This research subject represents the transfer function of a system above the second order. Research goal: to simplify the system stability assessment process for transfer functions higher than second order based on the stability triangle and inequations ...
