Mechanical impedance characteristics of robots for coexistence with humans

Proceedings of International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
In the future, it is expected that robots will play important roles in coexisting with humans. Whenever humans come into contact with these robots they must be able to adjust their physical softness parameters, which will help humans remain calm and which will be favourable for human emotions.

Characteristic impedance of humid air

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986
This paper describes the effects of humidity and temperature on the characteristic impedance ρc of standard atmospheric air. The characteristic impedance decreases with humidity and temperature. An approximate equation is given for the computation of ρc over the range of relative humidity from 0–1.0, and temperature from 0°–30 °C.

Characteristic impedance extraction using calibration comparison

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2001
A robust line impedance identification method is presented in this paper. It determines the characteristic impedance of on-wafer thru-line-reflect (TLR) standards measured after an initial off-wafer line-reflect-match or TLR calibration. The only assumption made is that the obtained trans-wafer error boxes are a cascade of a symmetric probe-related ...

Analysis of Respiratory Impedance Characteristics in Chronic Bronchitis

Respiration, 2009
Impedance measurements of the respiratory system were performed by means of the technique of forced oscillations to study the mechanical characteristics of the respiratory system in 33 patients with chronic bronchitis without spirometric evidence of airway obstruction (FEV1≥70% predicted).

Characteristic Impedance Measurement on Silicon

2000
This paper examines a new method that accurately determines the characteristic impedance of planar transmission lines printed on lossy dielectrics, even when contact-pad capacitance and conductance are large. We demonstrate the method on a coplanar waveguide fabricated on fused silica and a microstrip line fabricated on a highly conductive silicon ...

Rapid assessment of electrode characteristics for impedance imaging

Images of the Twenty-First Century. Proceedings of the Annual International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1990
Electrical impedance imaging is the technique for producing images of the resistivity of internal body structures based on measurements of voltage and current from electrodes applied to the body's surface. When a multiplicity of electrodes are applied in one or more rows around a body structure such as the thorax or limb, it is useful to be able to ...

Characteristic Impedance of Microstrip Lines

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1987
It is shown that it is feasible to force the complex power P of microstrip line to be given by the usual circuit definition: P = I* V/2 where I and V are the current and voltage of the equivalent transmission line and * denotes complex conjugation. If this requirement is made, then the three common definitions of characteristic impedance (namely, the ...

A new definition of characteristic impedance

1991 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2002
It is shown how a novel de-embedding technique, appropriate for electromagnetic analyses, results in a new three-dimensional definition of characteristic impedance, the transverse electromagnetic TEM equivalent characteristic impedance. This new definition is appropriate and unique for all inhomogeneous, as well as homogeneous, media.
