Morphological and Anatomical Observations of Adventitious and Lateral Roots of Sago Palms

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2002
Sago palm (Metroxylon sagu Rottb.), which produces starch in large quantities in its trunk, could become one of the most important nutritious food resources in the near future. Although its root functions are thought to be very important for the enormous

Aluminum effect on nutrition and development of grapevine rootstocks (Vitis spp.)

open access: yesOENO One, 2004
The proposal work was to detect the growth capacity and absorption of minerals on grape rootstocks in acid soils with high contents of Al. The rootstocks tested were: ‘IAC 572’, ‘1045 P’, ‘RR 101-14’, ‘Kober 5BB’ and ‘Gravesac’, at 0 %, 13,5 %, 27 %, 40 ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Numerical Integration Error in Linear Ordinary Differential Equations—Characteristic Root Distortion by Integration

open access: yesIEEE Access
Obtaining solutions to large-scale linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) inevitably relies on numerical integration methods that have developed in various contexts to ultimately approximate the differentiation of continuous-time values using ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Aerial root formation in Oaxacan maize (Zea mays) landraces persists into the adult phase and is minimally affected by soil nitrogen and ambient humidity

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Maize (Zea mays L.) is the most widely produced crop in the world, and conventional production requires significant amounts of synthetic nitrogen fertilizer, which has negative economic and environmental consequences. Maize landraces from Oaxaca, Mexico,

Transformed Hairy Roots of Arachis hypogea: A Tool for Studying Root Nodule Symbiosis in a Non–Infection Thread Legume of the Aeschynomeneae Tribe

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2009
Arachis hypogea is a non–“infection thread” (IT) legume where rhizobial entry or dissemination in the nodules never involves IT. Rhizobia invade through epidermal “cracks” and directly access the cortical cells to develop the characteristic ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Comprehensive energy consumption evaluation of a dry roots vacuum Pump: An experimental, dynamic and FEM research

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The dry Roots vacuum pump (DRVP) is widely used in vacuum applications for its large pumping speed and high reliability. This paper proposed a simulation route to comprehensively evaluate its performance and energy consumption distribution ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
