A Characterization of Sufficiency
The main conclusion of this paper can be described as follows. Consider a statistical decision problem in which certain structural conditions are satisfied, and let $T$ be a statistic on the sample space. Then the class of decision functions which depend on the sample point only through $T$ is essentially complete if and only if $T$ is a sufficient ...

RAD50 missense variants differentially affect the DNA damage response and mitotic progression
RAD50 incorporates into the MRN complex and initiates the DNA damage response. Furthermore, RAD50 promotes mitotic progression. RAD50 missense variants capable of forming an MRN complex supported the DNA damage response and mitotic features to different extents in complementation experiments, indicating these functions are separable and might impact ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Multiplexed Detection of Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Campylobacter, and Listeria in Raw Poultry
The detection of foodborne pathogens is a critical aspect of ensuring food safety. Traditional methods rely on time-intensive enrichment steps and pathogen-specific assays, extending testing timelines and limiting throughput.

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.

Signal size and resolution of scanning thermal microscopy in air and vacuum
We present measurements comparing scanning thermal microscopy in air and vacuum. Signal levels are compared and resolution is probed by scanning over the edge of a nanofabricated Ag square embedded in $$\hbox {SiO}_{2}$$ .
