Design and Analysis of Self Recoverable Triple Node Upset Hardened Latch With Novel Triple Input-Dual Output C-Element for Aerospace Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access
Designing fault resilient storage components is a significant challenge in radiation-hardened systems, as CMOS scaling causes systems to be more susceptible to radiation-induced Multiple-Node Upsets (MNUs). The proposed Triple input-Dual output C-element-

Effects of Spray Surfactant and Particle Charge on Respirable Coal Dust Capture

open access: yesSafety and Health at Work, 2017
Background: Surfactant-containing water sprays are commonly used in coal mines to collect dust. This study investigates the dust collection performance of different surfactant types for a range of coal dust particle sizes and charges. Methods: Bituminous

Toward a Monolithic Pixel Sensor for Heavy Ion Spectroscopy—Pixel Structure Design and Optimization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Detection and classification of cosmic particles is essential for many scientific and engineering applications. Currently available heavy ion detectors necessitate an external readout integrated circuit when conducting both measurements of particle ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Charge Transporting Materials Grown by Atomic Layer Deposition in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Charge transporting materials (CTMs) in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have played an important role in improving the stability by replacing the liquid electrolyte with solid state electron or hole conductors and enhancing the photovoltaic efficiency by ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Study on Single Event Effects of Enhanced GaN HEMT Devices under Various Conditions

open access: yesMicromachines
GaN HEMT devices are sensitive to the single event effect (SEE) caused by heavy ions, and their reliability affects the safe use of space equipment. In this work, a Ge ion (LET = 37 MeV·cm2/mg) and Bi ion (LET = 98 MeV·cm2/mg) were used to irradiate ...

Use of diamond sensors for a high-flux, high-rate X-ray pass-through diagnostic

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2022
X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) deliver pulses of coherent X-rays on the femtosecond time scale, with potentially high repetition rates. While XFELs provide high peak intensities, both the intensity and the centroid of the beam fluctuate strongly on a

Collective space-charge phenomena in the source region [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2004
Abstract For many devices space-charge-dominated behavior, including the excitation of space-charge collective modes, can occur in the source region, even when the downstream characteristics are not space-charge-dominated. Furthermore, these modes can remain undamped for many focusing periods. Traditional studies of the source region in particle beam

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
