A quantum physics layer of epigenetics: a hypothesis deduced from charge transfer and chirality-induced spin selectivity of DNA

open access: yesClinical Epigenetics, 2023
Background Epigenetic mechanisms are informational cellular processes instructing normal and diseased phenotypes. They are associated with DNA but without altering the DNA sequence. Whereas chemical processes like DNA methylation or histone modifications

Hybrid Modeling of Lithium-Ion Battery: Physics-Informed Neural Network for Battery State Estimation

open access: yesBatteries, 2023
Accurate forecasting of the lifetime and degradation mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries is crucial for their optimization, management, and safety while preventing latent failures. However, the typical state estimations are challenging due to complex and

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Topology and index theorem with a generalized Villain lattice action – a test in 2d

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
Using 2-d U(1) lattice gauge theory we study two definitions of the topological charge constructed from a generalized Villain action and analyze the implementation of the index theorem based on the overlap Dirac operator.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Microfluidic electro‐viscoelastic manipulation of extracellular vesicles

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The electro‐viscoelastic manipulation as a potential method for separation of particles based on size. The particles introduced as a sheath flow migrate to the channel center under the influence of simultaneously applied electric field and pressure driven flow.

Understanding charge radii with machine learning: Discovering physics expressions

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
We introduce a robust, interpretable machine learning (ML) framework that combines numerical regression for high-accuracy predictions with symbolic regression to uncover the underlying physics.

CHARGED LEPTON FLAVOR PHYSICS AND EXTRA DIMENSIONS [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2007
We estimate the charged lepton electric dipole moments and the branching ratios of radiative lepton flavor violating decays in the framework of the two Higgs doublet model with the inclusion of two extra dimensions. Here, we consider that the new Higgs doublet is accessible to one of the extra dimensions with a Gaussian profile and the fermions are ...

A general model for analysis of linear and hyperbolic enzyme inhibition mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We developed a general enzyme kinetic model that integrates these six basic inhibition mechanism onto a single one. From this model, we deduced a general enzyme kinetic equation that through modulation of simple parameters, γ (the relative inhibitor affinity for two binding sites) and β (the reactivity of the enzyme–substrate–inhibitor complex), is ...
