Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Tracking battery state-of-charge in a continuous use off-grid electricity system [PDF]
The growing importance of batteries in the delivery of primary energy, for example in electric vehicles and isolated off-grid electricity systems, has added weight to the demand for simple and reliable measures of a battery’s remaining stored energy at ...

Sodiation mechanism via reversible surface film formation on metal oxides for sodium‐ion batteries
Long term galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling of oxygen deficient, carburized and self‐organized titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotubes (NTs) in sodium ion (Na) batteries (SIBs) are subject to a significant self‐improving charge storage behavior.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Charge Storage Mechanisms in Redox-Active Polymer Brushes
Electroconductive polymer brushes grafted to conductive electrodes are investigated as model electrodes for aqueous supercapacitors using the Scheutjens-Fleer self-consistent field (SF-SCF) framework. The model self-consistently resolves polymer conformations, ion partitioning, and redox-mediated electron hopping under applied potentials (0-0.7 V).

Aqueous Multivalent Charge Storage Mechanism in Aromatic Diamine-Based Organic Electrodes
Rechargeable batteries employing aqueous electrolytes are more reliable and cost-effective as well as possess high ionic conductivity compared to the flammable organic electrolyte solutions. Among these types of batteries, aqueous batteries with multivalent ions attract more attention in terms of providing high energy density.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
