Slower carriers limit charge generation in organic semiconductor light-harvesting systems
In organic solar cells, the photogeneration of free charge carriers is limited by the dissociation of interfacial charge transfer states. Here, the authors study the impact of charge carrier mobilities in operational devices and show that the slowest ...

Marcus inverted region of charge transfer from low-dimensional semiconductor materials
Marcus inverted region for charge transfer from low-dimensional semiconductor materials has been long sought after. Here, the authors reveal this region by directly measuring charge transfer from single-charge states rather than excitonic states.

XPS evidence for molecular charge-transfer doping of graphene
By employing x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), we have been able to establish the occurrence of charge-transfer doping in few-layer graphene covered with electron acceptor (TCNE) and donor (TTF) molecules.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Fluctuation-Facilitated Charge Migration along DNA
We propose a model Hamiltonian for charge transfer along the DNA double helix with temperature driven fluctuations in the base pair positions acting as the rate limiting factor for charge transfer between neighboring base pairs.

Constrained-DFT method for accurate energy level alignment of metal/molecule interfaces [PDF]
We present a computational scheme for extracting the energy level alignment of a metal/molecule interface, based on constrained density functional theory and local exchange and correlation functionals.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Experimental Study on Heat Transfer Performance of Closed-loopSpray Cooling Using R134a
In this study, an R134a closed-loop spray cooling system was built to investigate the effects of flow rate, subcooling degree, and refrigerant charge on the steady spray cooling heat transfer performance.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
