Charge transfer states in phycobilisomes

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 2020
Phycobilisomes (PBs) absorb light and supply downstream photosynthetic processes with excitation energy in many cyanobacteria and algae. In response to a sudden increase in light intensity, excess excitation energy is photoprotectively dissipated in PBs by means of the orange carotenoid protein (OCP)-related mechanism or via a light-activated intrinsic

Charge transfer in charge-coupled devices [PDF]

open access: yes1972 IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference. Digest of Technical Papers, 1972
Previous theoretical work on the operation of charge-coupled devices has been rather qualitative. These studies emphasize one of a number of factors which can influence the charge-transfer process, for example, nonlinear diffusion and fringing fields. However, none of these studies take account of all the factors in a realistic way.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Ground-state charge transfer in single-molecule junctions covalent organic frameworks for boosting photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

open access: yesNature Communications
Ground-state charge transfer plays a vital role in improving the photocatalytic performance of D-A type covalent organic frameworks. However, limited studies have explored the modulation of photocatalytic performance in COFs-based photocatalysts through ...

Performance of the Charge Injection Capability of Suzaku XIS

open access: yes, 2007
A charge injection technique is applied to the X-ray CCD camera, XIS (X-ray Imaging Spectrometer) onboard Suzaku. The charge transfer inefficiency (CTI) in each CCD column (vertical transfer channel) is measured by the injection of charge packets into a ...

Constrained-DFT method for accurate energy level alignment of metal/molecule interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a computational scheme for extracting the energy level alignment of a metal/molecule interface, based on constrained density functional theory and local exchange and correlation functionals.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Theoretical study on the conformation-dependent charge transfer of the excited state of dopamine

open access: yesHeliyon
Clarifying the relationship between conformation and charge transfer is crucial for understanding the functional mechanisms of molecules in organisms. Theoretical calculations of dopamine, N,N-dimethyldopamine, and N,N-dihydroxydopamine were related to ...

Interaction-induced Interlayer Charge Transfer in the Extreme Quantum Limit

open access: yes, 2017
An interacting bilayer electron system provides an extended platform to study electron-electron interaction beyond single layers. We report here experiments demonstrating that the layer densities of an asymmetric bilayer electron system oscillate as a ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
