Distant charge transport [PDF]
Highlighting this issue of PNAS is a special feature comprising a Perspective and five research articles on the theme of long-range electron transfer. Distant electron transfers play key roles in aerobic respiration and photosynthesis, which work in concert: The oxygen that is evolved by photosynthetic organisms is the oxidant that sustains life in ...

CHARGE TRANSPORT AND DETERMINANTS [PDF]
We review some known facts in the transport theory of mesoscopic systems, including counting statistics, and discuss its relation with the mathematical treatment of open systems.

Observation of Charge Transport by Negatively Charged Excitons [PDF]
We report transport of electron-hole complexes in semiconductor quantum wells under applied electric fields. Negatively charged excitons (X – ), created by laser excitation of a high electron mobility transistor, are observed to drift upon applying a voltage between the source and drain.

Cavity-Enhanced Transport of Charge [PDF]
We theoretically investigate charge transport through electronic bands of a mesoscopic one-dimensional system, where inter-band transitions are coupled to a confined cavity mode, initially prepared close to its vacuum. This coupling leads to light-matter hybridization where the dressed fermionic bands interact via absorption and emission of dressed ...

On the mechanism of charge transport in pentacene [PDF]
Terahertz transient conductivity measurements are performed on pentacene single crystals, which directly demonstrate a strong coupling of charge carriers to low frequency molecular motions with energies centered around 1.1 THz. We present evidence that the strong coupling to low frequency motions is the factor limiting the conductivity in these organic

Mechanisms for DNA Charge Transport [PDF]
DNA charge transport (CT) chemistry has received considerable attention by scientific researchers over the past 15 years since our first provocative publication on long range CT in a DNA assembly.1,2 This interest, shared by physicists, chemists and biologists, reflects the potential of DNA CT to provide a sensitive route for signaling, whether in the ...

Impact of Different Pressures on Charge Transport in EPDM
Ethylene-propelene-diene monomer (EPDM), as a high-quality insulation material, has been widely used in accessories of cable joints, but it bears a large compressive pressure in the working environment, which may affect its insulation performance.
