Pigment composition of freshwater charophyceae

Aquatic Botany, 2000
Twelve species of Charophyceae were collected at different locations in the eastern part of Austria and photosynthetic pigments analyzed by means of rP-HPLC (reversed phase-high performance liquid chromatography). Besides pigments typical of higher plants, also ?-carotene was detected in antheridia and for the first time in sterile specimens of Chara ...

Nitella hollerbachii (Charophyceae, Characeae) – a new species from Pacific Asia

Phytotaxa
A new monoecious species of Nitella, N. hollerbachii sp. nov., is described here using an integrative taxonomic approach. The specimens were collected in 1928 by Vazinger-Alektorova from rice fields near Lake Khanka in Pacific Asia, the Primorsky Krai of Russian Federation.

Relationship between biomass and surface area of Charophyceae

Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии), 2021
Relationships between charophytes surface area and biomass were studied in oligo-mesotrophic Naroch Lake (Belarus). To determine the surface area of Charophytes the geometric similarity method was used, preceded by dividing the thallus into separate cylindrical fragments.

Systematik der Charophyceae

2015
Charophyceae are a class of macroscopic green algae exhibiting a complex whorlshaped thallus. They are closest related to the land plants. Their systematics is subjected to ongoing tuning based on integrative approaches combining morphology, anatomy, ontogeny, molecular phylogeny, and ecology.

Oospore Wall Ornamentation in the GenusTolypella(Charales, Charophyceae)

Journal of Phycology, 2012
The ultrastructural features of oospore wall ornamentation in the genusTolypellawere examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The taxonomic relationships among several species were discussed on the basis of oospore ultrastructure and measurements. In the case ofT. glomerataandT.

A quantitative method to analyse the sexual development of charophytes (Charophyceae): a baseline for phenological studies

Phycologia, 2022
Traditionally, gametangium morphology has been considered an important feature in the taxonomy of charophytes (family Characeae), although its dimensions change notably with development.
