Establishing the Epidemiological Cut‐Off Value (ECOFF) for Cefquinome Against Staphylococcus aureus Using Standardised MIC Data

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
A total of 110 Staphylococcus aureus isolates from cattle were analysed to determine the epidemiological cut‐off value (ECOFF) for cefquinome. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were determined using standardised agar dilution and broth microdilution methods following 24 h incubation.

Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus Across Asia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Prevalence in Cattle Population Between 2000 and 2025

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
This systematic review and meta‐analysis summarize the epidemiology of bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) infection in cattle populations across Asia. Analysis of 133 studies comprising 160,042 cattle revealed a pooled seroprevalence of 40.50% and a pooled antigen prevalence of 9.0% (44,636 cattle). These findings provide an extensive synthesis of the

Dynamic rhizosphere C:N:P stoichiometry of plants, soils and microbial biomass under different grazing patterns

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 7, Page 2262-2274, July 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Analysing grassland ecological stoichiometry is crucial for evaluating ecosystem quality and health via energy flow and elemental equilibrium. Grazing is a dominant human activity shaping alpine grasslands on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP), yet few studies have used ...

Traditional Fermented Dairy Products as Reservoirs of Bifidobacterium With Probiotic Potential: From Microbial Diversity to Functional Characterization

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Traditional fermented dairy products (TFDPs) are complex microbial ecosystems that may serve as reservoirs of many microorganisms, including those with probiotic potential such as Bifidobacterium species and lactobacilli. Although bifidobacteria are widely used as probiotic microorganisms in defined formulations, their occurrence, persistence,

Insects and Survival: A Review of Primary and Secondary Defense Strategies

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 7, Page 601-624, July 2026.
Based on a review of three decades of literature, insect defense mechanisms are classified into primary (I) and secondary (II) mechanisms of behavioral, morphological, and chemical nature. These mechanisms have been recorded in 22 (I) and 20 (II) orders, respectively.
