Generalised Kinematic Single‐Impact and Multi‐Impact Models for Rocking Structures

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1179-1202, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The rocking motion is fundamental in earthquake engineering, as it reflects the dynamic behaviour of many structural systems. However, simulating the impacts during rocking motion remains a challenging topic, as they occur in a very short time, generate high impulsive forces, cause sudden changes in velocities and result in rapid energy losses.

Fossil Hegemony and Capitalist Realism in Tropic of Orange

open access: yesFuture Humanities, Volume 4, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines Karen Tei Yamashita's Tropic of Orange (1997) through the lens of Mark Fisher's influential concept ‘capitalist realism’. Scholars of petrofiction have pointed to a political ambivalence in the representation of fossil fuels, where a better understanding of fossil capital can overwhelm as much as galvanize.

A Right‐Wing Populist Turn in the Conservative Party of Canada? Continuities and Ruptures Under the Leadership of Pierre Poilievre (2022–2025)

open access: yesCanadian Review of Sociology/Revue canadienne de sociologie, Volume 63, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Since his election as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) in 2022, Pierre Poilievre has been associated with populism in media and political discourse, with implicit and explicit comparisons to Donald Trump. This article investigates the validity of such assessments by applying “complex” theories of populism, which conceptualize ...

Rectal Arteriovenous Malformation Mimicking a Submucosal Tumor: Successful Long‐Term Outcome After Transcatheter Arterial Embolization With N‐Butyl‐2‐Cyanoacrylate‐Lipiodol

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Rectal arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare vascular anomalies that pose diagnostic challenges because they may resemble submucosal tumor–like lesions. A 54‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hematochezia, and a colonoscopy revealed a protruding lesion near the dentate line.

Host‐Specific Vocal Similarity in Fledgling Levaillant's Cuckoos and Babblers in West Africa

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Young cuckoos can mimic host calls to gain care, but the extent of this similarity varies across hosts. Analysing fledgling begging calls across four host associations, we found that calls given during food transfer were broadly similar and did not match host calls, whereas cuckoos reared by their main West African host closely mimicked host begging ...
