To reconstruct the cheek, surgeons will need a variety of techniques including local flaps, pedicled flaps, as well as split- or full-thickness skin grafts. Depending on the size and the location of the defect as well as possible impeding conditions (revision, previous irradiation) or extended surgery (parotid gland, cervical lymph nodes), the extent ...

The goal of cheek reconstruction is to restore an illusion of "normal." Attention must be directed toward the contralateral cheek skin color, texture, thickness, and contour, because this serves a template for reconstruction. The cheek is a peripheral facial subunit and largely frames the more central subunits (eyelids, nose, lips).

Left cheek poses garner more likes: the effect of pose orientation on Instagram engagement
Laterality, 2018In social media’s attention economy “likes” are currency; photos showing faces attract more “likes.” Previous research has established a left cheek bias in photos uploaded to social media, but whether left cheek poses induce more engagement than right ...

The challenge surgeons face when reconstructing cheek defects varies significantly depending on the location and depth of the defect and the distensibility of the surrounding tissues. The cheek is a large aesthetic unit characterized in most areas with a convex surface and inherent transitions in color and texture.

The cheek, one of the most important facial aesthetic units, adjoins key facial structures including the mouth, nose, and eyelids. When undertaking cutaneous cheek defect repair, these functional structures must remain undisturbed. Indeed, the size, depth, and position of each defect must be critically assessed in relation to surrounding donor tissue ...

Although patterns of tooth wear are crucial in palaeo-reconstructions, and dental wear abnormalities are important in veterinary medicine, experimental investigations on the relationship between diet abrasiveness and tooth wear are rare.

Lipoblastomatosis of the cheek
British Journal of Oral Surgery, 1967Summary Lipoblastomatosis is a rare developmental anomaly which is characterised by the continued proliferation of lipoblasts in the post-natal period. It is found in infants and occurs in sites of foetal fat formation. The case reported here arose in the cheek of an 18-month-old child and is believed to have developed from the buccal fat pad.
