Comparison of Life Tables ofCheilomenes sexmaculata(Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) Under Laboratory and Greenhouse Conditions

Journal of Economic Entomology, 2015
The ladybird Cheilomenes sexmaculata (F.) is an important aphidophagous predator in Asia. In order to mass rear predators for biological control, it is valuable to identify the features of populations that are affected by variations in field conditions.

Limb regeneration is blastema dependent in a ladybird beetle,Cheilomenes sexmaculata(Fabricius)

2023
AbstractHolometabolous insects undergoes metamorphosis which involves an intercalated pupal stage between larva and adult. The body plan of the adult is established during pupal stage and larval systems are de-differentiated and reorganized in insects undergoing complete metamorphosis.

Effect of age on reproductive attributes of an aphidophagous ladybird, Cheilomenes sexmaculata

Insect Science, 2006
AbstractThe effect of both male and female age was investigated on certain reproductive attributes, viz. mating incidence, mating duration, fecundity, percent egg viability, ratio of reproductive and non‐reproductive periods and reproductive rate, of an aphidophagous ladybird, Cheilomenes sexmaculata (Fabricius).

Effect of Aphis-Gossypii Glover Number on Mallada-Astur (Banks) and Cheilomenes-Sexmaculata (Fabricius)

Biological Control, 1994
Abstract The effect of Aphis gossypii Glover density on consumption patterns, development, and fecundity of Mallada astur (Banks) and Cheilomenes sexmaculata (Fabricius) was studied in the laboratory. Consumption of A. gossypii increased by two- and three-fold for M. astur and C.

Toxicity of Some Insect Growth Regulator and Neonicotinoid Insecticides to Cotton Mealybug Predator, Cheilomenes sexmaculata

Madras Agricultural Journal, 2012
The toxicity of insect growth regulators and neonicotinoid-based insecticides recommended for the management of cotton mealy bug, Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley were compared and tested for their toxicity against different developmental stages of predatory coccinellid Cheilomenes sexmaculata (Fabricius). Buprofezin recorded significantly higher (76.66%)

Investigation on rhythmicity in oviposition of an aphidophagous ladybird,Cheilomenes sexmaculata(Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

Biological Rhythm Research, 2013
The rhythmicity in insects has been widely studied by researchers showing changes in the physiology, behavior, and population synchrony of the insects. One of the most important rhythms which control the population is oviposition rhythm. Oviposition/egg-laying rhythm in an aphidophagous ladybird, Cheilomenes sexmaculata (Fabricius), was found to have ...

Susceptibility of immature stages of a biocontrol agent, Cheilomenes sexmaculata, to imidacloprid and pyriproxyfen

2019
Chemical control is one of the important strategies in agricultural pest management because of easy operation, availability and fast control of pests. On the other hand, the environment has been exposed to various types of pesticides and pollutants which are growing daily.

REPRODUCTIVE BEHAVIOUR OF TWO APHIDOPHAGOUS LADYBEETLES, CHEILOMENES SEXMACULATA AND COCCINELLA TRANSVERSALIS

Insect Science, 2004
Abstract  Reproductive behaviour of two aphidophagous ladybeetles, Cheilomenes sexmaculata and Coccinella transversalis was studied. A premating period of 5.0±0.5 and 11.7±0.4 days and a pre‐oviposition period of 5.5±0.7 and 12.7±0.5 days was observed for C. sexmaculata and C. transversalis, respectively.
