Complexity made easy: Aggregation‐induced emission small molecules for cancer diagnosis and phototherapies

Small molecule photosensitizers (PSs) with aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) are gaining biomedical popularity due to their clear structures, tunable photophysical properties, and low toxicity. Mechanisms involved in the muscle relaxing effects of STW 5 in guinea pig stomach

The phytomedicine STW 5 (Iberogast®) improves functional dyspepsia symptoms partly through proximal gastric relaxation. We found that STW 5 inhibited ORAI‐coupled store‐operated Ca2+ entry. This novel mode of action of a smooth muscle relaxing drug impact on design of drugs and approaches to treat motility disorders.
