Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

Chemical abundances of RGB-Tip stars in the Sagittarius dwarf Spheroidal galaxy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
We present preliminary iron abundances and $\alpha$ element (Ca, Mg) abundance ratios for a sample of 22 Red Giant Branch (RGB) Stars in the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy (Sgr), selected near the RGB-Tip. The sample is representative of the Sgr dominant population. The mean iron abundance is [Fe/H]=-0.49. The $\alpha$ element abundance ratios are

CHEMICAL ABUNDANCES AND DUST IN THE HALO PLANETARY NEBULA K648 IN M15: ITS ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION BASED ON AN ANALYSIS OF MULTIWAVELENGTH DATA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report on an investigation of the extremely metal-poor and C-rich planetary nebula (PN) K648 in M15 using the UV to far-infrared data obtained using Subaru, the Hubble Space Telescope, the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer, Spitzer, and Herschel.

Chemical Abundances in SFG and DLA

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate the chemical abundances of local star-forming galaxies which cause Damped Lyman Alpha lines. A metallicity versus redshift diagram is constructed, on which the chemical abundances of low-redshift star-forming galaxy populations are compared with those of high-redshift Damped Lyman Alpha systems.

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

THE CHEMICAL ABUNDANCES OF ATMOSPHERES OF K GIANT STARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
The abundances of 18 cool giant stars in Vicinity of Sun have been determinated. This determination was made by using the method of model atmospheres. It should be noted that almost all elements show discrepancies in abundances determined for absorption ...

Multiphase Chemical Evolution in Elliptical Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The recent {\em ASCA} results show that the iron abundance of the X-ray gas of elliptical galaxies is less than the solar abundance ($Z_{\sun}$). The observed low iron abundance is inconsistent with the predictions of the previous chemical evolution models.

Chemical composition of clump stars in the open cluster NGC 6134

open access: yes, 2010
We present an analysis of high-resolution spectra of six core-helium-burning "clump" stars in the open cluster NGC 6134. Atmospheric parameters T_eff, log_g, v_t, and [Fe/H] were determined in our previous study by Carretta et al. (2004).

Determining stellar atmospheric parameters and chemical abundances of FGK stars with iSpec [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Context. An increasing number of high-resolution stellar spectra is available today thanks to many past and ongoing extensive spectroscopic surveys. Consequently, the scientific community needs automatic procedures to derive atmospheric parameters and ...
