Influence of Chemical Composition on Porosity in Aluminium Alloys

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2014
Porosity is one of the major defects in aluminum castings, which results is a decrease of a mechanical properties. Porosity in aluminum alloys is caused by solidification shrinkage and gas segregation.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Chemical composition of Achatina fulica [PDF]

open access: yesTropicultura, 1990
Proximate composition and mineral content were determined in snail without and with shell and shell atone from Achatina fulica. This snail has high protein (above 40 %), low fat (less than 3 %) and is a relatively good source of macrominerals, including ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Research of Cranberry Main Indicators of Chemical Composition and Its Processing Products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
It is well–known that cranberry is an especially rich and heterogenic source of phytochemical substances. Modern technologies allow to produce food products of wild fruits and berries, but they use their diverse and useful chemical composition ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Chemical composition of Leonurus quinquelobatus in Western Siberia

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Естественные науки, 2018
The chemical composition of plants should be studied in order to understand the role of environmental factors in accumulation of various chemical elements by them, as well as to make a better sense of the specifics of potential resource plants.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of essential oil from narcissus (Narcissus poeticus L.) and absolute from four rose (Rosa damascena Mill.) cultivars

open access: yesChemistry Journal of Moldova: General, Industrial and Ecological Chemistry
The 28 components of N. poeticus essential oil and 37 of R. damascena Mill. absolutes of Moldovan origin were identified by GC-MS analysis. The major component of N. poeticus essential oil was γ-terpineol (52.62%).
