The [2Fe‐2S] cluster of mitochondrial outer membrane protein mitoNEET has an O2‐regulated nitric oxide access tunnel

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mitochondrial outer membrane iron–sulphur ([Fe‐S]) protein mitoNEET is a target of the type‐2 diabetes drug pioglitazone. Its unknown molecular function is linked to respiratory complex activity and mitochondrial function. We discovered that O2 protects the mitoNEET [2Fe‐2S] cluster against NO oxidation and desensitization towards reduction by H2S.

The application of two-phase composite absorbent systems consisting of BAD and seawater resources in the wet treatment of ship exhaust gas

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: The impact of ship emissions on the environment cannot be ignored and should be controlled. The possibility of applying seawater electrolysis technology and a novel amide absorbent (BAD, C12H25NO) to the simultaneous desulfurization and ...

Characterization of fungal carbonyl sulfide hydrolase belonging to clade D β‐carbonic anhydrase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Here, we performed a functional analysis of the fungal enzymes belonging to clade D of the β‐class carbonic anhydrase family (β‐D‐CA). The β‐D‐CAs in the basidiomycete Gloeophyllum trabeum and the ascomycete Trichoderma harzianum showed very low activity in the hydration of CO2 but exhibited high activity in the hydrolysis of carbonyl sulfide (COS ...

An Exploration of the Sub-Register of Chemical Engineering Research Papers Published in English

open access: yesPublications, 2018
The increased pressures for high-volume, high-impact publications in English language and the high rejection rates of submitted manuscripts for publications present an often unsurpassable obstacle for (early career) researchers.

Efficiency and Fluctuation in Tight-Coupling Model of Molecular Motor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A simple tight-coupling model of a molecular chemical engine is proposed. The efficiency of the chemical engine and its average velocity can be explicitly calculated. The diffusion constant is evaluated approximately using the fluctuation theorem. Langevin simulations with stochastic boundary conditions are performed and the numerical results are ...
