Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Optimization and Evaluation of Drying Kinetics and Quality Attributes of Persimmon Using Infrared Dryer: Influence of Operational Parameters [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering
The impact of infrared drying parameters on drying time and the qualitative characteristics of the persimmon was thoroughly investigated by varying sample thickness (3, 5, and 7 mm), air velocity (0.5, 1.25, and 2 m/s), and infrared power levels (1000 ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Pristine and Reassembled Nanosheets of Layered Perovskite-like Titanates HLnTiO4 and H2Ln2Ti3O10 (Ln = La, Nd) as Photocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesSolids
Layered Ruddlesden–Popper titanates HLnTiO4 and H2Ln2Ti3O10 (Ln = La, Nd) have been exfoliated into nanosheets in aqueous tetrabutylammonium hydroxide and systematically investigated as hydrogen evolution photocatalysts.

Diffusion-Limited One-Species Reactions in the Bethe Lattice

open access: yes, 2006
We study the kinetics of diffusion-limited coalescence, A+A-->A, and annihilation, A+A-->0, in the Bethe lattice of coordination number z. Correlations build up over time so that the probability to find a particle next to another varies from \rho^2 (\rho

Chemical Kinetics and Reaction Mechanisms in Solvent Extraction: New Trends and Applications

open access: yes, 2017
Solvent extraction is a technique used to separate compounds based on their solution preferences in two different immiscible liquids. Chemical kinetics is the area of science devoted to study the rates as well as the mechanisms of reactions.

Differentiation Treatment Applied to Lung Cancer Model Reduces Pathogenic Traits in Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Non‐small cell lung cancer cells (A549) treated with a differentiation medium showed strong reduction in proliferation, migration, clonogenicity, spheroid formation and stemness markers, with enhanced adhesion properties and alveolar features, all pointing to a notably less aggressive phenotype in support of differentiation therapy as a promising ...

Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Exploring Microstructure–Physical Property–Corrosion Response Relationship in Intermetallic Compounds of Al‐Cu Bimetallic Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Al‐Cu intermetallic compounds (IMCs) have a significant influence on the properties of Al‐Cu bimetallic interfaces formed in compound casting. This article provides a deeper understanding of microstructure, crystallography, thermal properties, hardness, and corrosion response of Al‐Cu IMCs with the goal of facilitating the optimization of the ...
