Solution Structures of \u3cem\u3eMycobacterium tuberculosis\u3c/em\u3e Thioredoxin C and Models of Intact Thioredoxin System Suggest New Approaches to Inhibitor and Drug Design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Here, we report the NMR solution structures of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) thioredoxin C in both oxidized and reduced states, with discussion of structural changes that occur in going between redox states.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Three-Dimensional Structures of 3/4/5-O-feruloylquinic Acids by NMR Spectroscopy and Quantum Chemistry Calculation

open access: yesChinese Journal of Magnetic Resonance
3/4/5-O-feruloylquinic acids (3/4/5-O-FQA) have antioxidant activity, which is beneficial to disease prevention and human health maintenance, however, their exact 3D structures are still unknown.

Applications of Chemical Shift Imaging to Marine Sciences

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2010
The successful applications of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in medicine are mostly due to the non-invasive and non-destructive nature of MRI techniques.

Gate-controlled spin polarized current in ferromagnetic single electron transistors

open access: yes, 2001
We theoretically investigate spin dependent transport in ferromagnetic/normal metal/ferromagnetic single electron transistors by applying master equation calculations using a two dimensional space of states involving spin and charge degrees of freedom ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Use of two-point and six-point Dixon MRI for fat fraction analysis in the lumbar vertebral bodies and paraspinal muscles in healthy dogs: comparison with magnetic resonance spectroscopy

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionFatty degeneration of the vertebral bodies and paravertebral muscles is associated with the presence, severity, and prognosis of spinal disease such as intervertebral disc degeneration. Therefore, the fat fraction (FF) of the vertebral bodies

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Doping-induced band shifts and Lifshitz transitions in heavy-fermion metals

open access: yes, 2012
For some heavy-fermion compounds, it has been suggested that a Fermi-surface-changing Lifshitz transition, which can be driven, e.g., by varying an applied magnetic field, occurs inside the heavy- fermion regime.
