Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

A quantum chemical dataset of interacting molecular pairs for chemical reaction studies

open access: yesJournal of Cheminformatics
Understanding molecular interactions beyond single-molecule properties is critical for studying real-world chemical systems. Quantum chemical calculations of molecule–molecule interactions are computationally demanding, making large, publicly available ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Investigating the Sole Olefin-Based Cycle in Small-Cage MCM-35-Catalyzed Methanol-to-Olefins Reactions

open access: yesMolecules
Small-pore zeolites catalyze the methanol-to-olefins (MTO) reaction via a dual-cycle mechanism, encompassing both olefin- and aromatic-based cycles. Zeolite topology is crucial in determining both the catalytic pathway and the product selectivity of the ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Quantum Chemical Studies on [Co(ntb)(pic)]+ Complex Ion

open access: yesJournal of New Results in Science, 2013
– Tris(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)aminepicolinatocobalt (II), [Co(ntb)(pic)]+, complex were studied theoretically. [Co(ntb)(pic)]+complex ion were synthesized and geometric parameters, vibration frequencies and UV-VIS spectrum were obtained by Nie et al.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.
