Active catalyst construction for CO2 recycling via catalytic synthesis of N-doped carbon on supported Cu

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Bridging homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis is a long-term pursuit in the field of catalysis. Here, the authors present results on integration of nano- and molecular catalysis via catalytic synthesis of nitrogen doped carbon layers on AlOx supported

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Iridium porphyrin-catalysed asymmetric carbene insertion into primary N-adjacent C–H bonds with TON over 1000000

open access: yesNature Communications
Selective functionalization of ubiquitous C-H bonds in organic molecules provides a straightforward and efficient approach to construct complex molecules with fewer synthetic steps and high atom economy, thus promoting more sustainable and economical ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Sustainable recycling of polyamides via C–N bond cleavage facilitated by methyl tosylate under mild conditions

open access: yesNature Communications
The escalating issue of plastic “white pollution” urgently calls for efficient and sustainable recycling strategies. Herein, we propose an approach for the depolymerization of polyamides via alcoholysis, utilizing methyl tosylate as an activator to ...

Abundances and search for vertical stratification in the atmospheres of four HgMn stars

open access: yes, 2010
Using high resolution, high-S/N archival UVES spectra, we have performed a detailed spectroscopic analysis of 4 chemically peculiar HgMn stars (HD 71066, HD 175640, HD 178065 and HD 221507). Using spectrum synthesis, mean photospheric chemical abundances

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Visible-light-mediated flow protocol for Achmatowicz rearrangement

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
The batch processes of APIs/pharmaceutical synthesis are prone to suffer significant limitations, including longer process time, shortage of skilled manpower, laborious post-synthetic work-up, etc.
