Chemical Weathering and Erosional Response of Northern New Guinea to Orbital‐Scale Climate Variability

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
The island of New Guinea comprises arc‐ophiolite units tectonically imbricated with continental rocks offscraped from the colliding Australian plate and contributes large amounts of sediment to the ocean. A sequence deposited close to the north shore and

Spatial and temporal variations of Rb/Sr ratios of the bulk surface sediments in Lake Qinghai

open access: yesGeochemical Transactions, 2010
The Rb/Sr ratios of lake sediments have been suggested as indicators of weathering intensity by increasing work. However, the geochemistry of Rb/Sr ratios of lake sediments is variable between different lakes.

Climate Change Mitigation in the Dairy Sector: Uncovering Heterogeneity Through Eco‐Efficiency Clubs

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Combining climate change goals with economic targets is crucial for the dairy sector, which is a significant contributor to agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. In this paper, we assess economic and climate change implications of dairy production with panel data of Irish dairy farms from 2013 to 2021.

How Competitive Is Myanmar's Rice Sector? A Comparison of Production Costs and Efficiency

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the cost competitiveness of rice production in Myanmar by examining production costs, cost efficiency, and the potential effect of improving cost efficiency on the country's global competitiveness. To achieve this, we conduct a comparative analysis of production costs among major rice‐producing countries and estimate the ...

Organic acids and high soil CO2 drive intense chemical weathering of Hawaiian basalts: Insights from reactive transport models

open access: yesGeochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 2019
Abstract We have investigated how biota contributes to rapid chemical weathering of Hawaiian basalts using a reactive transport model and chemical data from a soil chronosequence. These Hawaiian soils have developed under a tropical forest with rainfall >200 cm/yr and exhibit extensive weathering on timescales of 104 years.

Sustainability Strategies in the Cocoa‐Chocolate Value Chain: An Analysis Using Stakeholder Theory, Global Value Chain Theory, and Resource Dependence Theory

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cocoa‐chocolate value chain faces significant environmental and social challenges, driving firms to adopt sustainability strategies ranging from individual practices to third‐party certifications. This study investigates the factors associated with these strategies by analyzing 304 cocoa‐chocolate companies using firm‐level data from the ...

The Role of Certifications in Improving Household Food Security Among Peruvian Farmers

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Achieving global food security requires sustainable transformations in agri‐food systems. Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) such as Organic and Fairtrade aim to internalize certain social and environmental costs while promoting more equitable value distribution, improved market access, and sustainable production practices.
