Seasonal Fluctuations of Plastochromanol‐8 and α‐Tocopherol Amounts in the Leaves of Cecropia Trees

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plastochromanol‐8 (PC‐8) is a homologue of γ‐tocotrienol with a longer side chain (eight instead of three isoprene units) and therefore also a representative of the tocochromanol (vitamin E) group. PC‐8 has been determined in various plants and seeds, with Cecropia sp. leaves showing unusually high levels.

Multi-state assessment of electrocution for late-season weed control in soybean in the Central United States

open access: yesWeed Technology
The increasing prevalence of herbicide-resistant weeds underscores the need to integrate non- chemical weed management approaches in soybean. Weed electrocution may be a viable option; however, limited research exists on the subject.

Contact herbicides combined with mineral oil to control dayflower weeds

open access: yesRevista Agrogeoambiental, 2020
Dayflower weeds are tolerant to some herbicides; an alternative for their control is the addition of adjuvants in the solution to be applied to improve the efficiency of these products.

Kikuyu grass clippings as a bioeconomy feedstock: influence of pyrolysis conditions on biochar properties and its effect on the growth of Swiss chard

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract The integration of urban organic waste streams into the bioeconomy is critical for advancing the water–food–energy nexus. Grass clippings, an abundant and underutilized municipal residue, represent a promising feedstock for producing value‐added materials.

Induction and Enhancement of Bacteriocin Production (Review)

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Conventionally, bacteriocins are produced by microorganisms on complex substrates, released as semi‐purified preparations or crude fermentates. These bacteriocin‐containing products often exhibit unsatisfactory purity, low active‐substance content, and high production costs, limiting their commercialization and use. This review aims to analyze

Kin discrimination in plants: overview and implications for population and community ecology

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Following the discovery of identity discrimination, particularly self and kin discrimination amongst plant competitors, research on interplant interactions has advanced significantly within plant physiology and evolutionary ecology. This review synthesizes current knowledge on how both self and kin discrimination influence plant growth ...
