Blood‐Based Biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease: Advances in Detection Technologies and Clinical Applications

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
Blood‐based biomarkers are emerging as accessible tools for Alzheimer's disease screening, diagnosis, risk stratification, and longitudinal monitoring. This review summarizes major biomarkers, including Aβ42/Aβ40, phosphorylated tau species, NfL, GFAP, genetic risk markers, and exploratory inflammatory, synaptic, and proteomic candidates.

T3 and T4 autoantibodies: emerging biomarkers for evaluating thyroid disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
Introduction and objectivesThe clinical significance of thyroid hormone autoantibodies, specifically triiodothyronine autoantibodies (T3-Ab) and thyroxine autoantibodies (T4-Ab), is not well understood due to current detection method limitations.

Sarcopenia and Sarcopenic Obesity in Postmenopausal Women: Limitations of BMI as a Predictor of Sarcopenic Obesity

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
The prevalence of sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity is large among community‐dwelling postmenopausal women, and lower body mass index is a significant predictor of both. The finding that low body mass index predicts both sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity, highlights the limitation of body mass index as a measure of adiposity in the assessment of ...

Direct chemiluminescence immunoassay of estradiol in saliva

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1990
Abstract A sensitive and simple direct solid-phase chemiluminescence immunoassay is described for estradiol in saliva. In this assay, a second antibody is bound to the wells of microtiter plates. Either buffer with standards or saliva (100 microL) is incubated in these wells with monoclonal anti-estradiol antibody and with estradiol ...

High-Throughput Automated Luminescent Magnetic Particle-Based Immunoassay to Monitor Human Exposure to Pyrethroid Insecticides

open access: yes, 2016
We have developed a sensitive, automated, competitive chemiluminescent immunoassay for the detection of 3-phenoxybenzoic acid (3-PBA), a metabolite common to many pyrethroid insecticides.

Growth Differentiation Factor 15 as a Cerebrospinal Fluid Biomarker for the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Leptomeningeal Metastasis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective As leptomeningeal metastasis (LM) has a poor prognosis, reliable cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diagnostic biomarkers are urgently needed. This study evaluated the diagnostic value of CSF growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) in LM from lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and breast cancer (BC).

Chemiluminescence Platforms in Immunoassay and DNA Analyses

open access: yesAnalytical Sciences, 2009
Chemiluminescent (CL) detection techniques for DNA assays and immunoassays have become very popular in recent years. This review discusses recent advances in those CL assays that have occurred over the last few years. In the monoplex assay section, different classes of CL labels including nanoparticle, DNAzyme, acridinium ester, enzyme and luminol ...
