Neoproterozoic chemostratigraphy
Chemostratigraphy has diverse applications to investigating the rock record, such as reconstructing paleoenvironments, determining the tectonic setting of sedimentary basins, indirect dating, and establishing regional or global correlations. Chemostratigraphy is thus an integral component of many investigations of the ancient sedimentary record.

Chapter 4 Chemostratigraphy and the Neoproterozoic glaciations
Abstract Although the pre-glacial Proterozoic isotopic record is poorly constrained, it is apparent that the chemical and isotopic composition of the oceans began to change during the early to mid-Neoproterozoic and experienced considerable fluctuations alongside climatic instability during much of the subsequent Cryogenian and ...

Chemostratigraphy of the Posidonia Black Shale, SW-Germany
Chemical Geology, 2004Abstract During the Toarcian, widespread deposition of organic-rich mudrocks (black shales) occurred across Europe, linked to a 3rd-order sea-level rise. We provide a high-resolution, multi-proxy chemostratigraphic study of the Dotternhausen sections in SW Germany embedded in a stratigraphic and palecological framework.

Application of artificial neural networks to chemostratigraphy
Paleoceanography, 1996Artificial neural networks, a branch of artificial intelligence, are computer systems formed by a number of simple, highly interconnected processing units that have the ability to learn a set of target vectors from a set of associated input signals. Neural networks learn by self‐adjusting a set of parameters, using some pertinent algorithm to minimize ...

Abstract Carbon- and strontium-isotope data from the Mina Verdun, Arroyo del Soldado and Sierras Bayas groups are summarised and discussed. Mn/Sr ratios and δ 13 C versus δ 18 O crossplots for the Mina Verdun Group at its stratotype show that δ 13 C reflects seawater composition.

ChemCam: Chemostratigraphy by the First Mars Microprobe
Elements, 2015The ChemCam laser-induced breakdown spectrometer on the rover Curiosity has provided more than 200,000 spectra from over 5000 different locations on Mars. This instrument is the first chemical microprobe on Mars and has an analytical footprint 0.3–0.6 mm in diameter.
