Notes on the germination of the endangered species Sclerolaena napiformis (Chenopodiaceae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Sclerolaena napiformis is found on fertile plains in northern Victoria and southern New South Wales and is endangered Australia-wide. Introductory work on its germination shows that seeds cannot germinate until the woody fruit has broken down.

A high-altitude peatland record of environmental changes in the NW Argentine Andes (24 ° S) over the last 2100 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
High-altitude cushion peatlands are versatile archives for high-resolution palaeoenvironmental studies, due to their high accumulation rates, range of proxies, and sensitivity to climatic and/or human-induced changes. Especially within the Central Andes,

Holocene palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of sea level, coastal and vegetation changes along the southern Solway Firth, United Kingdom

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 41, Issue 3, Page 419-432, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Holocene relative sea level (RSL) changes were reconstructed from four sites along the less‐studied southern Solway Firth. A multiproxy approach, including lithostratigraphical and biostratigraphical analyses, combined with radiocarbon dating, produced ten sea level index points (SLIPs).

Soil, competition, and niche shifts shape the floral mosaic of an annual plant diversity hotspot

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 113, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Premise Plant species with affinity for harsh substrates often have well‐defined edaphic (soil) niches and are ideal for exploring questions of community assembly. Vertic clay soils are chemically and physically challenging to plant establishment and productivity, and annual plant communities associated with these soils of the San Joaquin ...
