Abelian Chern–Simons theory, Stokes’ theorem, and generalized connections
Generalized connections and their calculus have been developed in the context of quantum gravity. Here we apply them to abelian Chern-Simons theory. We derive the expectation values of holonomies in U(1) Chern-Simons theory using Stokes' theorem, flux operators and generalized connections. A framing of the holonomy loops arises in our construction, and

Explicit construction of a Chern–Moser connection for CR manifolds of codimension two [PDF]
In the present paper we suggest an explicit construction of a Cartan connection for an elliptic or hyperbolic CR manifold M of dimension six and codimension two, i.e. a pair (P, w), consisting of a principal bundle P over M and of a Cartan connection form w on P, satisfying the following property: the (local) CR transformations of M are in one to one ...

Chern-Simons invariants of reductive homogeneous spaces
The geometric characteristic classes of Chern-Simons are computed for certain connections on the canonical bundle and tangent bundle over a reductive homogeneous space.

Residue formulation of the Chern character on smooth manifolds
The Chern character of a complex vector bundle is most conveniently defined as the exponential of a curvature of a connection. It is well known that its cohomology class does not depend on the particular connection chosen.

Simplicial Chern-Weil theory for coherent analytic sheaves, part II
In the previous part of this diptych, we defined the notion of an admissible simplicial connection, as well as explaining how H.I. Green constructed a resolution of coherent analytic sheaves by locally free sheaves on the \v{C}ech nerve. This paper seeks

Chern-Simons field theory on the general affine group, 3d-gravity and the extension of Cartan connections [PDF]
The purpose of this article is to study the correspondence between 3d-gravity and the Chern–Simons field theory from the perspective of geometric mechanics, specifically in the case where the structure group is the general affine group.

(n-2)-tightness and curvature of submanifolds with boundary
The purpose of this note is to establish a connection between the notion of (n−2)-tightness in the sense of N.H. Kuiper and T.F. Banchoff and the total absolute curvature of compact submanifolds-with-boundary of even dimension in Euclidean space.

On the Non Metrizability of Berwald Finsler Spacetimes
We investigate whether Szabo’s metrizability theorem can be extended to Finsler spaces of indefinite signature. For smooth, positive definite Finsler metrics, this important theorem states that, if the metric is of Berwald type (i.e., its Chern–Rund ...
