The implications of American chestnut reintroduction on landscape dynamics and carbon storage
In the eastern United States, American chestnut (Castanea dentata) was historically a major component of forest communities, but was functionally extirpated in the early 20th century by an introduced pathogen, chestnut blight (Cryphonectria parasitica ...

We assess the effect of sanitation felling performed in 2022 in North‐Eastern Italy on bark beetle damage that occurred in 2023 across eight spruce forest types, as evaluated using multispectral satellite imagery. Bark beetle damage was reduced only at very high or very low sanitation felling rates.

Three molecular profiles identified among Art v 1/Amb a 4‐sensitized patients: Art v 1 monosensitization, Amb a 4 monosensitization, and dual sensitization to both allergens. Art v 1 monosensitization was predominantly associated with allergic rhinitis, reflecting a classical airborne allergy pattern.

Rehydration of dried chestnut: influence of variety and process conditions.
The rehydration step of dried chestnut was characterized for practical application. Chestnuts (Marrone di Zocca) dried by different methods were soaked for 24 hours at different temperatures (10°C, 25°C and 40°C) and agitation rate (0 and 12500 Re).

Protecting temperate old‐growth forests as biotic microrefugia amid climate change
Old‐growth forests are essential biotic microrefugia, providing high carbon storage, biodiversity, and stable microclimates that protect understorey species from climatic extremes. Their resilience to drought and disturbance makes them more effective than younger forests, yet habitat loss, fragmentation, and climate change increasingly threaten these ...
