Double asymptotics for the chi-square statistic [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters, 2016
We consider distributional limit of the Pearson chi-square statistic when the number of classes m increases with the sample size n in such way that $n/\sqrt{m} \to $. Under mild moment conditions, the limit is Gaussian for $ = \infty$, Poisson for finite $ > 0$, and degenerate for $ = 0$.

Pembentukan Model Pohon Keputusan pada Database Car Evaluation Menggunakan Statistik Chi-Square

open access: yesContemporary Mathematics and Applications (ConMathA), 2022
The study discusses problems related to the formation of a decision tree based on a collection of evaluation data records obtained from a number of car buyers. This secondary data was obtained from the UCL machine learning website.

Mining statistically significant substrings using the chi-square statistic [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the VLDB Endowment, 2012
The problem of identification of statistically significant patterns in a sequence of data has been applied to many domains such as intrusion detection systems, financial models, web-click records, automated monitoring systems, computational biology, cryptology, and text analysis.

Maximally selected chi-square statistics and umbrella orderings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Binary outcomes that depend on an ordinal predictor in a non-monotonic way are common in medical data analysis. Such patterns can be addressed in terms of cutpoints: for example, one looks for two cutpoints that define an interval in the range of the ...

Text Sentiment Analysis Based on Hybrid Chi-square Statistic and Logistic Regression [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2017
In text sentiment analysis, feature extraction method based on Chi-square statistic (CHI) is easy to ignore single text word frequency which leads to text feature accuary is low,a feature extraction method based on hybrid chi-square statistics is proposed.

Maximally selected chi-square statistics and binary splits of nominal variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We address the problem of maximally selected chi-square statistics in the case of a binary Y variable and a nominal X variable with several categories. The distribution of the maximally selected chi-square statistic has already been derived when the best

Recent developments in superstatistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We provide an overview on superstatistical techniques applied to complex systems with time scale separation. Three examples of recent applications are dealt with in somewhat more detail: the statistics of small-scale velocity differences in Lagrangian ...

Maximally selected chi-square statistics for at least ordinal scaled variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The association between a binary variable Y and a variable X with an at least ordinal measurement scale might be examined by selecting a cutpoint in the range of X and then performing an association test for the obtained 2x2 contingency table using the ...

Chi-square and F Ratio: Which should be used when?

open access: yesJournal of Methods and Measurement in the Social Sciences, 2018
Approximations for Chi-square and F distributions can both be computed to provide a p-value, or probability of Type I error, to evaluate statistical significance.
