Statistical data analysis of cancer incidences in insurgency affected states in Nigeria
This article provides details about the various cancer types recorded in Northeastern states of Nigeria currently being affected by insurgency in Nigeria. The dataset was described and chi-square test was used to determine the dependency of the variables

Components of the Pearson-Fisher chi-squared statistic [PDF]
The Pearson-Fisher chi-squared test can be used to evaluate the goodness-of-fit of categorized continuous data with known bin endpoints compared to a continuous distribution, in the presence of unknown (nuisance) distribution parameters. Rayner and McAlevey [11] and Rayner and Best [9],[10] demonstrate that in this case, component tests of the Pearson ...

Adjusted empirical likelihood with high-order precision [PDF]
Empirical likelihood is a popular nonparametric or semi-parametric statistical method with many nice statistical properties. Yet when the sample size is small, or the dimension of the accompanying estimating function is high, the application of the ...

ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

Modifying the Chi-square and the CMH test for population genetic inference: Adapting to overdispersion [PDF]
Evolve and resequence studies provide a popular approach to simulate evolution in the lab and explore its genetic basis. In this context, the chi-square test, Fishers exact test, as well as the Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel test are commonly used to infer ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Information Divergence is more chi squared distributed than the chi squared statistics
For testing goodness of fit it is very popular to use either the chi square statistic or G statistics (information divergence). Asymptotically both are chi square distributed so an obvious question is which of the two statistics that has a distribution that is closest to the chi square distribution.

Sunk Costs: does group decision make a difference? [PDF]
Purpose – Investigate whether joint decision-making is distinct from individual decision-making in the case of biased sunk costs. Design/methodology/approach – We applied 96 questionnaires containing 5 questions adapted from Arkes and Blumer (1985 ...

Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.
