Exact Computation of Pearson Statistics Distribution and Some Experimental Results

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2016
A Markov chain based algorithms for exact and approximate computation of Pearson statistics distribution for multinomial scheme are described. Results of computational experiments reveal some new properties of the difference between this distribution and

Fractal Characterizations of MAX Statistical Distribution in Genetic Association Studies

open access: yes, 2009
Two non-integer parameters are defined for MAX statistics, which are maxima of $d$ simpler test statistics. The first parameter, $d_{MAX}$, is the fractional number of tests, representing the equivalent numbers of independent tests in MAX.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Minimum Chi-Squared Estimation Using Independent Statistics

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1967
In a multinomial situation with observed proportions $Q_i (i = 1, \cdots, r + 1)$ and corresponding expected proportions $p_i$, it has been shown by Chapman [1] that for large samples $Y_i = \ln Q_i - \ln Q_{i + 1},\quad i = 1, \cdots, r,$ and $Y_j$ are independent for $j \neq i - 1, i, i + 1$.

On high-dimensional sign tests

open access: yes, 2016
Sign tests are among the most successful procedures in multivariate nonparametric statistics. In this paper, we consider several testing problems in multivariate analysis, directional statistics and multivariate time series analysis, and we show that ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

The Restricted Likelihood Ratio Test at the Boundary in Autoregressive Series [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The restricted likelihood ratio test, RLRT, for the autoregressive coefficient in autoregressive models has recently been shown to be second order pivotal when the autoregressive coefficient is in the interior of the parameter space and so is very well ...
