Tutorial on Bonferroni Correction as a Post Hoc Analysis of a Significant Chi-Squared Test: A Methodological Guide in Food Science [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality and Hazards Control
Background: In medical research, analyzing the relationship between two categorical variables is common. While chi-square tests (e.g., Pearson's, McNemar's, and Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel) can determine if a significant association exists, they do not ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Evaluation of effects, inheritance patterns and gene number prediction controlling plant height and root length of colchicine treated fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.)

open access: yesMaǧallaẗ al-baṣraẗ al-ʻulūm al-zirāʻiyyaẗ
Fennel seeds were treated with varying colchicine concentrations (0, 0.0125, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2 % w/v) for 24 and 48 hours and then planted in a garden using a randomized complete block design (RCBD) method.

Boolean networks using the chi-square test for inferring large-scale gene regulatory networks

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2007
Background Boolean network (BN) modeling is a commonly used method for constructing gene regulatory networks from time series microarray data. However, its major drawback is that its computation time is very high or often impractical to construct large ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Monotonicity of Chi-square Test Statistics [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper establishes monotonicity of the chi-square test statistic. As the more efficient parameter estimator is plugged into the test statistic, the degrees of freedom of the resulting chi-square test statistic monotonically increase.

Statistical Homogeneity Zoning of a High and Steep Slope Based on Chi-Square Test

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
This paper aims to develop an objective and rational method for statistical homogeneity zoning of high and steep slopes. For this purpose, the fracture trace length was introduced to the statistical homogeneity zoning based on the statistical similarity ...
