The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The determination of the resistance inheritance against common bunt in wheat and half-diallel hybrids

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2019
This study was conducted to determine the inheritance of common bunt resistance in twelve bread wheat varieties and their half-diallel hybrids in Turkey. The disease ratings were performed on the F2 generations of the hybrids in field conditions.

Tests for Independence in Two-Way Contingency Tables with Small Samples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
When testing the null hypothesis of independence in a two-way contingency table, the likelihood ratio test statistic is approximately distributed as Chi-squared d for large sample sizes (N) but may not be for small samples.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

An Asymptotic Two-Sided Test in a Family of Multivariate Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2020
In the present paper, a two-sided test in a family of multivariate distribution according to the Mahalanobis distance with mean vector and positive definite matrix is considered.

Human factor analysis of general accidents in coal mines based on HFACS

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2021
In order to find out the human factors leading to coal mine general accidents, the paper counts the coal mine accidents occurred in 2019. Based on the investigation reports, HFACS is used to carry out the statistics and analysis of 43 coal mine general ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

A Socioecological Assessment of Vulture Abundance and Community Perceptions Before and After Landfill Site Shift in Pokhara, Nepal

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
South Asia is home to nine species of vultures, and Nepal hosts all of them. Remarkably, all these species have also been recorded in Pokhara. This could be attributed to Pokhara's location along bird migration pathways and the year‐round availability of

HARDY-WEINBERG EQUILIBRIUM ASSUMPTIONS IN CASE-CONTROL TESTS OF GENETIC ASSOCIATION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The case-control study design is commonly used in genetic association study with a binary trait using unrelated individuals from a population. To test association with a binary trait in a case-control or cohort study, the standard analysis is a chi ...
