The effect of breeds and rearing system on laying performance and egg quality of local chickens

open access: yesKufa Journal for Agricultural Sciences
The study was to identify the reproductive performance of Vietnamese local chickens, named Noi chickens from 36 - 46 weeks of age. The study aimed to determine the effect of breeds and rearing system on laying performance and egg quality of local chickens. The study was a factorial design with 2x2 factors and involved with 120 layers.

Multi‐Omics Insights Into the Mechanisms of Early Muscle Fiber Difference and Transformation Between Lean‐Type and Chinese Indigenous Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics analyses uncover breed‐specific cis‐regulatory landscapes and higher‐order chromatin architectural differences that underlie early postnatal muscle fiber divergence in pigs. A super‐enhancer upstream of PPP3CB recruits MEF2C to activate PPP3CB transcription, while the PPP3CB–MEF2C positive feedback loop promotes oxidative muscle fiber ...

Fosl2 Regulates FSH‐Dependent Follicle Maturation Through Feedback Amplification of FSH/FSHR Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a FOSL2‐driven positive feedback loop that amplifies FSH/FSHR signaling. During FSH‐dependent follicle maturation, FSH induces Fosl2 expression via the cAMP‐PKA‐CREB cascade. FOSL2 in turn binds the promoters of Fshr and estrogen‐biosynthesis genes to enhance their transcription, thereby increasing Fshr mRNA level and amplifying ...

Safety and efficacy of Beltherm MP/ML (endo‐1,4‐beta‐xylanase) as a feed additive for chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying, turkeys for fattening, turkeys reared for breeding, turkeys for breeding purposes and minor poultry species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Beltherm MP/ML is a feed additive that contains endo‐1,4‐beta‐xylanase to be used as a zootechnical additive in poultry species. The production strain of the xylanase is a genetically modified strain of Bacillus subtilis.

Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

The Effect of Different Dietary Protein Levels in the Rearing and Laying Periods on Performance of White Leghorn Chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1984
An experiment was conducted to determine the effects of three rearing and four laying protein regimens on growth and subsequent performance of a commercial strain of White Leghorn chickens. In the rearing period, the pullets of the control group received a sequence of 18, 15, and 12% protein for 0 to 6, 6 to 14, and 14 to 20 weeks of age, respectively.

Mixing‐Driven Defects and Composition Evolution in Multi‐Material Metal Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando synchrotron X‐ray imaging coupled with high‐fidelity multiphysics modeling uncovers how inter‐material mixing reshapes keyhole dynamics and drives distinct pore‐formation pathways in multi‐material laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Composition‐dependent instabilities trigger defects, whereas rescanning suppresses porosity and homogenizes Cu ...

Neuromorphic Near‐Sensor and In‐Sensor Computing Enabled by Next‐Generation Material‐Based Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This Review presents a structural framework that classifies neuromorphic sensing into near‐sensor and in‐sensor architectures, clarifying physical coupling between sensing and computation. The framework connects neural and synaptic device functions with recent advances in optical, mechanical, and chemical sensing, compares energy consumption and ...
